In the contemporary ecclesial landscape, the figure of Robert Francis Prevost emerges as a point of synthesis between missionary experience and the governance of the universal Church. From the world's peripheries to the central structures of the Roman Curia, his path reflects a Church in transformation, increasingly called to confront the global challenges of our time.
Through a rigorous yet accessible analysis, this volume explores the foundations and development of Catholic Social Doctrine, showing how it is not a closed system, but a living tradition capable of interpreting the tensions of modernity. From the question of labor to contemporary economic crises, and up to the new challenges of globalization, the social magisterium reveals itself as a dynamic instrument for reading reality.
At the center of the reflection lies the role of the papacy, understood as a moral guide and interlocutor in international public debate, especially in the current challenges of robotics and new forms of virtual slavery. Drawing on the legacy of Pope Leo XIII and the historical encyclical Rerum Novarum, the text highlights the continuity and evolution of a thought that unites faith and reason, tradition and innovation.
A work that invites the reader to understand how the Social Doctrine of the Church can still today offer interpretative keys and concrete guidelines for building a more just society, founded on the dignity of the person and the common good.
Don Rocco Zappia is a priest and theologian who has devoted many years to the study and teaching of spiritual medicine.
Throughout his life, he has explored themes such as psychoanalysis, symbolism, Eastern philosophies, and alchemical traditions.
